Our History:
By the end of 1989 Alfredo Alvarez
saw the oportunity of opening a patio store at a small shopping
center in one of the largest cities of the island.With a College
degree in Business and fourteen years of experience in the
furniture business, he believed he was ready for this new
venture, even though he had very little cash and even less
trade credit references. In th summer of 1990 Ambiente Moderno,
that means "Modern Ambiance" opened its doors for
the first time in a 2,800 sq/ft showroom and a 1,000 sq/ft
warehouse. There were 2 part timers in charge of sales and
Alfredo was working as manager, buyer, sales person, merchandiser,
and delivery man. At the time Ambiente Moderno carried rattan,
wicker, PVC, and resin furniture.

| Even though no important
lines were on the floor, customers began to place small orders
here and there. This way the new born business was able to pay
for its rent, utilities, payroll, and advertising (very low
budget since day one). After 10 years of business, things have
changed for good and Ambiente Moderno has become the first choice
for quality patio furniture in Puerto Rico. The main showroom
and offices have moved to a very modern designed building of
8,500 sq/fti n San Juan, the capital of Puerto Rico. Also, a
second store of 3,500 sq/ft is operating in the west side of
the island. The actual warehouse is 14,000 sq/ft. A team of
18 high qualified full time employees and 15 part timers completes
Ambiente Moderno's staff. Brown Jordan, Tropitone, Lloyd Flanders,
Lane, Woodard, Cast Classics, Pompeii, and Winston ar some of
the most important lines displayed and carefully presented on
the sales floor. |
